Digital Future Society (DFS) is a global think tank that connects experts, policymakers, civic organizations and entrepreneurs with the mission of understanding and engaging with the legal and ethical challenges and opportunities of digital transformation.
The mandate of DFS is rooted in the idea that a more inclusive, equitable and sustainable future in the digital era must be co-created by citizens.
To this end, Digital Future Society will drive the scope and framework for an updated social contract: a new set of human rights for the digital era.
The programme brings together leading experts from various areas to share their vision, projects, and ideas. They engage online and in person to exchange opinions and insights, debating with and pushing society to design its own future.
DFS creates materials, toolkits, prototypes, guidelines, and publications to help move citizens to action and tackle the challenges resulting from digital disruption.
The programme transforms social and citizen-driven ideas into reality by bringing together a variety of stakeholders and iterating solutions that have proven their real-world value.
Inclusion & citizen empowerment
Empowering citizens to take control of their digital lives and habits.
Rethinking public services to promote knowledge and collaboration.
Building platforms that involve citizens in the social decision-making process.
Digital trust & security
Creating security and data privacy solutions that are available to everyone.
How exactly will DFS develop a new social contract for the digital era?
Through three main activities:
A global initiative focused on commissioning research that creates new knowledge on challenges emerging from the design, use, and governance of digital technologies.
A clearinghouse that identifies marketable solutions to prototype and overcome social challenges.
Events and spaces to share knowledge, experiences and tools that inspire citizens to tackle current challenges.
